Immenseness

person-woman-smartphone-calling“Hello, I would like to make an appointment for an abortion,” the caller said.

“We don’t offer abortions here.  Have you had a pregnancy test?” asked our receptionist Sarah*, privately praying for supernatural assistance.

“Yes, I did a home test,” answered the caller.

“You have a big decision to make,” responded Sarah. “We have all sorts of information that would help you make the right decision. Wouldn’t you like to come and just talk to someone?”

“Can I come now?” the caller quickly asked.

“Of course,” Sarah replied.

The next consultant, Josie*, was scheduled to arrive a whole hour later.  Sarah knew someone would see the caller when she arrived, but who would speak with her?  Sarah gathered the staff quietly to pray for that caller to come to LO and for God’s best words during the divine appointment.

During the prayer, consultant Josie walked in. It was an hour earlier than the time she regularly came. When told about the appointment, Josie seemed nervous. These appointments make all of us apprehensive, because they can be a matter of life and death. We often wonder if we will have the words to say, the clarity of mind to minister and the empathy for her situation. We totally count on God to give us His wisdom and words.  And then believe…

Would you pause and go on a little rabbit trail with me?  God is willing and able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. So we are to…REALLY BELIEVE that. The sun is 92.9 million miles away-that is just the sun. The farthest galaxy is 12.88 billion light years away. Our God created the universe with His Words and Colossians 1:17 tells us that “all things are held together by Him.”

constellation-personThink about that for a minute. My God holds the universe together and still knows how many hairs are on my head (and the real color of them). I’m urged to pray that God would not only increase my capacity to believe His Immenseness, but also expand my willingness and ability to be a bigger doer and not just a hearer of the Word.

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also and greater works than these he will do because I go to the Father,” says Jesus. I have to “let go of my own personal agenda and let God go as far as He wants with me.” Scary…for a moment.  But, if Jesus lives in me, that’s right!  I can do the things He does and even greater things, if I let Him have His way.”

That day at LO, Josie came earlier than normal because of an inner prompting. Even though appointments with those earnestly seeking to end their pregnancy are anxiety producing, Josie later told us that God gave her His words to say. Josie believes His strength is always made perfect in our weakness. Our caller, after talking with Josie, decided to keep her baby and made an appointment for a sonogram!

Friends, thank you for joining God in one of the most important things on His heart—saving the unborn, and believing Him for big things with us.  Together, we will be doers of the Word.
