Dear Friends,
I truly don’t want to make the conversation between pro-life and abortion a political issue, but let’s be honest: it’s become just that. I read an article that made my heart sink. At this year’s Democratic National Convention, a Planned Parenthood clinic drove a bus to the convention in Chicago to provide free vasectomies and abortions. Both were in such high demand that they had a waiting list. (The convention was taking place as I wrote this on August 20.)
Let’s be clear, I understand marketing strategies. Even as a non-profit, in order to become known in our community we need to be present at community events where we hand out branded merchandise such as pens, stickers and bags…but I believe Planned Parenthood has taken their marketing strategy too far.
Instead of receiving a refrigerator magnet with an address or phone number on it, people are lining up to end life…for free.
President of Heartbeat International, Jor-El Godsey, put it best when he said, “How little must Planned Parenthood think of the DNC-goers to assume they do or will need free abortions. Not to mention the future of the party that so easily dispenses with what would be its next generation.”
Did you catch that last part? The next generation of THEIR supporters are the ones being discarded.
I’ve already given Planned Parenthood more space in our newsletter than they deserve, so let’s re-focus on our role in all of this.
Life Options and all of the other pregnancy clinics across our country are fighting this battle every day! Abortion, deception and disregard for human life is a darkness that has been normalized in our culture. We are the light. We stand bold and bright revealing truth, sharing love and offering healing. We know the darkness cannot overcome the light, so let’s keep shining! *You’ll be encouraged by the story on page 2: Second Chances are just ONE way that God is using us to be the light in the darkness!
If you stand with us, you stand for LIFE. We all have a duty to uphold the sanctity of human life and I would challenge us all to keep that in mind as we prepare to elect our country’s leaders.
