Second Chances

Have you ever made a decision and almost immediately regretted it? I certainly have. In that moment of instant regret, I would have given anything for a second chance.

Kaitlyn’s* story is all about second chances. She came to Life Options requesting a pregnancy test which revealed a positive result. Kaitlyn was on the cusp of pursuing her career goals and a pregnancy would “mess that all up”. She remained undecided but scheduled an appointment to come back for an ultrasound. When Kaitlyn didn’t show for the ultrasound, our nurse contacted Kaitlyn to make sure she was ok. Kaitlyn shared on the phone that she had gone to Planned Parenthood for an ultrasound and that she was given the abortion pills. Kaitlyn didn’t want her parents to know, and her boyfriend wanted her to get the abortion. She was at a crossroads and didn’t know what to do. Our nurse kindly shared information about how the abortion pills work, risks to be aware of and briefly shared about the abortion pill reversal (APR) …just in case.

The following day Kaitlyn called our nurse and said she had taken the first abortion pill but immediately regretted taking it and remembered their conversation about the APR. Kaitlyn was upset and crying thinking she had already “killed her baby.” Our nurse instantly contacted a local physician who offers APR services and made an appointment for Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn began the abortion pill reversal process that day and continued meetings with the physician for regular follow-ups. Our nurse continued to check in on Kaitlyn to ask how she was doing and to offer support. During one of their conversations, Kaitlyn shared that she and her boyfriend got to see their baby’s heartbeat during an ultrasound appointment and that everything with the pregnancy “looked perfect!”

Kaitlyn’s story is a miracle. In her deepest, darkest, most regrettable moment, there was a glimmer of light leading to a second chance. She took it and saved the life of her baby.

God rescues, there’s no doubt about that. Praising Him for second chances!
