Time of Change

One of my favorite quotes is: “The only thing constant in life is change.”

I’m not particularly fond of change, but have come to accept it as a part of life and have developed an appreciation for what is learned during times of change.

While serving at Life Options, I’ve experienced countless times of adjusting to the constant shifting of local laws, center policies and cultural norms. Every one of these events has provided me with the opportunity to learn, pivot and embrace.

First, in order to prepare myself for change, learning is essential. Once I have an understanding of why the change occurs, I can pivot my way of thinking and my actions. I have to move forward in each experience mentally and physically so that I can fully embrace the process. Things don’t always end up how I expected, but they always end up how they’re supposed to.

The best part about change is… it’s not up to me.  Even though I do my fair share of holding onto the reigns as long as I can, fighting to stay in control of every situation, I know that no matter how difficult the journey, ultimately it will be just as God has planned. Of course, It’s important for me to engage in everything God puts before me. I cannot just sit back and watch it unfold; I do have a responsibility to do my part. What a privilege to work and live in the knowledge of being led by our gracious, loving all-knowing Father.

My thoughts for this month’s letter are driven by the state of change we are currently facing at Life Options. We will be saying farewell to two of our long-time staff members, who will be dearly missed. We know God’s plan for them is best, so we can be thankful of His watchful care over them as they embrace the new stages of life before them.

In their absence, we have staffing needs to be filled in order to carry out our mission effectively. We eagerly anticipate meeting the new members of our team that I know God has already chosen. We’re just waiting for them to follow God’s leading to apply.  If you believe God is directing you to pursue a position at Life Options, give me a call – I would love to talk with you!

I covet your prayers as we step into this season of change and boldly ask you to pray specifically for God to provide for our staffing needs, for a smooth transition and that each member of our team would get to serve in the area of their personal giftedness.

Even when it seems like the only thing constant in life is change, I serve an unchangeable God.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Isaiah 40:28
